If we were having coffee I’d probably talk about work, the blog, and my pool:

Me: I went on a field trip with some of my students a couple days ago. It was great. It was to a science center and the kids got to touch and see and hold so many scientific things. I think they will remember it for years t come. The really neat thing about is was that my wife got to come as a parent and ex-substitute, she’s a therapist now. Also both our girls got to come along with the 6th graders. A really amazing day in LA.
You: That sounds great.
Me:Yeah it was. We got to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor up close and personal. On to the blog … I had a bit of a scare yesterday. My blog is self-hosted, that means I can run all kinds of extras like plugins and theme add ons and such. It also means I can mess things up from time to time. I was in a chat with Bluehost, my webhost, for about 30 minutes last night stopping 95 running processes that had frozen up my blog. I cleaned up a lot of stuff and added some optimization and cache plugins which brought it back to its healthy, lovely state.
You: I never heard of self-hosted before. Sounds interesting. Me:It is. You have so many more options than WordPress.com or Blogger free hosted but it gets old if it’s not your thing. I think after almost 12 years of doing it I can safely say it’s mine. Oh yes and the pool. I started getting the dirt and muck out of it about 3 weeks ago. I’m still not done. Having a pool in the high desert is not the best call. Still, I wouldn’t trade mine. I should have it cleaned out by Monday, just need another trip to Lowe’s. So, would you like a second cup of coffee? I’m making!

If you took the time to read, please leave me a comment! I’ll be sure and return the favor.

    1. They had a lot of biological exhibits. One was called “Ecosystems” and it took us through the desert, rainforest, Savannah, etc. Really neat. Thanks for the comment.
