No (Some) Thing Really Matters to Me

Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution that you kept?

When you dig deep you find out what really matters. Dating as much as possible doesn’t matter. Going through the Bible in a year doesn’t matter. Doing pushups kind of matters, running kind of matters, being open to others’ points of view REALLY matters. Loving others including your wife and showing actions that represent that love REALLY matters. Reading a certain list of hip titles kind of matters. Getting a college degree really matters. Scheduling a time in each day to practice relaxation or meditation really matters.

Letting go of false morals foisted on you by tradition mattered more to me than almost anything. Being conscious of your heartbeat, blood pressure, and breathing really matters. Doing a job of value really matters. Creating blog posts that are of value to my readers really matters. I kept all those resolutions and now you have my report as to which ones matter.

I'm a blogger, film critic, & podcaster with an MA in English from California State University, Fullerton. I teach public school, 4th grade as my primary occupation. My views on films and life are usually headstrong and often 'left of center' on movies and life, but I have respect for the other side. I married my high-desert princess (now my queen). We have 3 children.
