Amazing #weekendcoffeeshare

I enjoy being part of this blog ring where we write news of our week just as if we were having coffee with our reader, one on one. Something that comes to mind immediately is the news that I fixed my mailbox. Well, rather, my father in law Al fixed it. I posted photos earlier today. It had been broken out of the ground when our neighbor backed into it. Rather than make a long post about the rest of my news, I’ll make a list. I’ve always heard that blog readers love lists:

  • My difficult student finally brought me his mother’s phone number and we had a very productive chat.
  • I got new writing graded and up on my walls.
  • On Friday, I was teaching a lesson that was really working when my Principal and Asst. Principal came in and observed the meaty part of the lesson. It felt like a miracle! Usually they come by when not much is happening but Friday was very different.
  • I had lunch with my 17 year old son and we talked about priorities and goals. We haven’t connected for a while and that felt really great. He’s a good boy.
  • I’m happier with my blog theme than I have been in a long time.
  • I started a new post type for posting blog tips and strategies, I did my first post yesterday.

As is true with life, there is always more to tell. I hope you get to enjoy a good cup of Joe when you read this. I read a lot of these out there but sadly miss some. eave me a comment won’t you? I’d love to read yours. Thanks for the coffee time!

  1. Yeah, I love lists. It sounded like you had a pretty good week. Admins always seem to drop by at the worst time so it’s awesome when the come by when things are going great. I’m glad you spent some quality time with your son.

I’m still trying to decide if I like my new blog theme. I don’t dislike it, but I don’t love it.

    1. That’s a great comment thanks! I checked out your theme, I like it! I’ve been on WordPress for a long time and I can tell you it took me time and practice to figure out what theme worked best for me. I would say go for aesthetic preference first and then surf around looking at what’s possible. Finally, work within theme limitation to make it the best for your blog’s unique vision. If you’re like me, you’re never going to be 100% pleased, at least not for very long. I settle for about 70% ;)

  2. Thanks for the coffee.I’ve become quite a caffeine junkie since becoming part of the Weekend Coffee Share. It’s a miracle I sleep at all!
Sounds like you’ve had a productive week. Things are in flux here with the start of the new school year here in Australia and both kids starting at new schools and trying to get their routines sorted.I am a chronic night owl so I’m trying to adapt to early starts. Coffee comes in handy.
Hope you have a great week.

      1. You’re welcome, Damien. Need patience and good systems. When I was at high school, we had a locker at school whereas they keep their books at home and so we’re now having to pack his back properly the night before. That only came to light this morning when he didn’t have his books or instrument but we didn’t have time to go back. I knew these sort of things were going to be an issue but I also think we can nail it. We’re going to do up a nightly packing list.
Hope you have a great week.
        xx Rowena
